• Select save this file to disk
• Then select ok
• Save it in your hard drive
•  When download complete close the download window
• Go to start, then setting and choose control panel
• Double click on fonts
• Then from file drop down menu, choose install font
• Then select the drive and the folder where the font file you have just downloaded resides
• Click on it to select it
•   Then click on OK

The above procedure should successfully download and install the fonts in your computer. Now you should be able to view the information on the home page in Tamil and in English.

Home Page

The home page has the following options

• Users
• Help
• Feedback
• Admin

Select Users

This will take you to the user menu. In this menu there are four tabs. The active tab is always grayed out and the non-active tabs are always in blue. When you move the mouse over the non-active tabs it will be highlighted in darker shade of blue. This page has the following options:

• Home
• List
• Insert
• Search

Home

You can return to the home page at anytime by clicking on this tab.

List

When you click on this tab, this tab becomes grayed out and is now active. To list words in the dictionary follow the steps below:

• Select the type of dictionary (English – Tamil, Tamil – Tamil and Tamil – English)
• Choose order by alphabet or ID
• Choose sort by ascedning or descending
•  Click on submit query button

This would list the words in the dictionary and then you must click on a particular word to view the meanings for that word.

Alternatively you can just select the type of dictionary and then click on the submit query button to get the listings of words.

Insert

The user can insert words to the dictionary. These words you enter will be stored in a temporary array for the administrator to approve. Once the administrator approves the word it will be stored permanently in the database. Follow the steps below:

• Selecting the type of dictionary
• Enter the word
• Choose word class or leave it at default value of unknown
• Choose category or leave it at default value of unknown
• Enter the meaning or definitions
• You can click on add more meaning button to add more meanings
• Then click on add to store the words to the approval list

Further, if you want to enter meaning for a word within the definition and provide a link to look up that particular word, for example you define “dictator: one that dictates” and now when you click on dictates you want the user to view the meaning for “dictates”. To enable such capability use the following syntax to enter the words and meanings.

Example:

Insert the word: dictator
Meaning: one that (.)dictates(.) [The (.) is used by passer to detect the pattern]

Then insert the word: dictates
Meaning: to speak or act domineeringly

So, now when you search the word “dictator” the following will appear Dictator: the one that dictates and when you click on dictates, it will directly take you to the meaning “to speak or act domineering”. Thus eliminating the need to do a fresh search for the word “dictates”.

Search

Allows users to do online searches in Tamil or in English. You simply have to enter a Tamil word or an English word in the appropriate field provided and clicks the search button. If both fields are filled the word in English will be given priority and searched.

Feedback

Admin

This option is for the administrator and is restricted. Therefore the user has no access permission on this option.
